Early Life
Alexander was born on November 29, 1997, in Brooklyn, New York, and belongs to Guyanese descent. He was raised by his mother as his father was killed a month before he was born. Alexander went to Transit Tech High School in Brooklyn. During his time at school, he was good at basketball and played in different tournaments.
22Gz started taking rapping seriously when in 2016. He grew up listening to famous rappers like Meek Mill, 50 Cent, Jay Z, Chief Keef, and Future.
Career
Like many rappers these days, 22Gz started his rapping career with the use of social media. In 2016, he released a song titled “Blicky”. It accumulated millions of streams online within a month. He then dropped another hit song titled “Surburban” after a couple of months. The track has so far received more than 5 million views.
2017 was his worst year to date as his career was overshadowed by shooting allegations. He was charged for killing a man and went on to spend 5 months in prison. After his release from the jail, he joined Kodak Black’s Florida-based label, an Atlantic subsidiary, Sniper Gang in 2018.
