Family and Early Life
Long was born on 25th September 1987 in New Orleans Louisiana, United States. He spent his younger years in St. Louis. His parents are Gordon Long and Jane Long. He has a sister named Lindsay. Long attended Francis Howell high school where he graduated in 2006. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Duke University. He is married to Emily Armstrong.
Long was involved in different sports as a young boy including football and hockey. He turned his focus to golf after he suffered a leg injury. He started his career at Duke University as a freshman. Long was selected to the All-State All-Metro team in his four years at the university as an amateur. He won the Metropolitan Amateur Championship in St. Louis in 2008.
Long previously had two top-10 finishes earning an All-ACC team selection. He earned three top-10 finishes in his Sophomore season. They include the Coca-Cola Duke Golf Classic. He was also a Ping All-East Selection. He ended his Amateur career ranked second in the history of Duke University in stroke average. Long earned the All-ACC Academic honors for two seasons.
Long turned professional in 2010 after graduating from the university. He played on several small tours including the NGA Hooters Tour and the eGolf Tour before he earned entry into the PGA Tour Canada in 2014. He finished T54 at the Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying school in December 2014.
