George Kittle was born on October 9, 1993, in Madison, Wisconsin but moved to Iowa at a very young age. He went to Iowa City West High School followed by Cedar Falls High School and finally to Norman High School where he played football.
His father Bruce Kittle was also a football player and also a college football coach. After the completion of George’s high school, he committed to the University of Iowa to play college football.

Kittle played college football at the University of Iowa from 2012 to 2016. As a freshman, he had a limited time on the field and played only three games. Overall, he caught five passes for 108 yards. He then became a regular starter in the 2015 season. In that season, he had 20 receptions for 290 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.
As a senior in 2016, he had 22 receptions for 314 yards and four receiving touchdowns. Overall, in his college career, he played 22 games and had 48 receptions for 737 yards and 10 touchdowns.
In 2017, Kittle was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2.69 million contract which included a signing bonus of $298,287.
