John Robert Hill Jr. was born on August 3, 1996, in Jacksonville, Florida to parents Simona Ariel and John Robert Hill Sr. His nickname “Boonk” was given to him by his mother. John has 14 siblings in his family. He was raised by his mother and her husband Dirk Marshall Williams Jr.

Before coming into a rapping scene, Boonk worked briefly at a Popeye’s Chicken restaurant. He then started using social media sites and at the same time started writing his own rap. His Instagram account at one point rose to a massive 5 million followers but it was deleted due to explicit content. John also ran a YouTube channel where he used to publish stunts, pranks, and challenges.

Boonk listened to rappers like Tee Grizzley, Trippie Redd, YFN Lucci, and Black Youngsta. In October 2009, he released his debut EP titled “Atypical Latin Groove”. It featured songs like Good Morning, Gabbana, and De la Isla. The EP also consisted of his hit single “Muttin”. It has been viewed over 4 million times on YouTube.

John changed his name from Boonk Gang to John Gabbana in September 2018. The same year he released songs like “Weird Ass N!ggas” and “Either Way It Go”. His second EP titled “The John Gabbana” dropped on September 17, 2018. His next project “Gabbana Attack” was released on November 23, 2018, and it features songs like “Does he do Music or Sumn?”, “Fading Away”, and “Outdated”.
