MatPat Net Worth & Career
Patrick moved to New York City to pursue an acting career after graduating from Duke with a double major in neuroscience and theater, but after two years of near-total unemployment, he uploaded the promotional trailer for Game Theory, and four days later, he uploaded the first episode, explaining the scientific accuracy of the time-traveling mechanic in the SNES game Chrono Trigger.
He is the creator and narrator of the YouTube show Game Theory. In his films, he discusses a variety of themes, including scientific precision, reasoning, and gaming.
This is how he got the idea for his two most successful YouTube channels, MatPat’s Game Lab and GTLive. The Ohio-born YouTube sensation has over 15 million subscribers and over 1.7 billion views across all of his three accounts.
The Game Theorists has had several spin-offs and independent programmes. The Game Theorists has some series that have additional episodes on the artists’ channels. They hit 1 million members on December 17, 2013 and 10 million on July 18, 2018.
“Can Gamers SURVIVE the Real Mirror’s Edge? – Game Lab” is the channel’s most popular video.
The video was uploaded on June 8, 2016, and is the first episode in MatPat’s Game Lab series. It shows MatPat and other prominent gaming YouTubers undertaking real-life parkour tasks. MatPat also has the most money contributed in a single charity webcast on YouTube. His initial donation was $1.38 million, slightly shy of PewDiePie’s biggest.
On Dec. 1, 2020, MatPat beat his own record by contributing $3.3 million over the course of a 10-hour charity live webcast. Markiplier and TheOdd1sOut were among the most popular YouTubers in his first record-breaking charity stream. The creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s, Scott Cawthon, was also on the initial webcast. He made a new game called Freddy in Space 2 for the webcast, and he donated $500,000 to charity. Cawthon gave the entire $500k even though the players only discovered $450k.
In addition to becoming #1 on YouTube Trending for a full day, the stream even took over the YouTube Ad Banner on the home page. The webcast was little under 10 hours long, compared to average charity streams that run for twelve hours or more and collect between $600,000 and $1 million. The money earned went to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and over 100,000 people watched at one point. On December 1, 2020, additional prominent YouTubers including Markiplier, Mr. Beast, and TheOdd1sOut joined the broadcast. YouTube Originals and State Farm both donated generously to this stream. Many of the YouTubers on this stream, including Mark Rober, MrBeast, and ZHC, offered to match donations up to $50,000, significantly beyond MatPat and his wife’s expectations.
