Schwab was born on 9th December 1994 in Schladming, Austria. He comes from a strongly athletic family. His father Andreas Schwab was a great sportsman and an Olympic bobsledder who represented his country in the 1976 Winter Olympics and made it to be the sixth in the four-man bobsled.
His father is a proficient golfer and he trained him and his younger brother on the game. He played junior golf in high school and made his team win awards at Vanderbilt University. He has not disclosed any information about his marital status.
Schwab had a successful amateur career before he turned professional in June 2017. He attained the final of the Amateur Championship in 2012 which he lost to Alan Dunbar by a single hole.
