Family and Early Life
Horsefield was born on October 8th, 1996 in Manchester, United Kingdom. His family moved to Florida, United States when he was five years old. He took a golf club in Florida while on a holiday with his family and he developed an interest in the game henceforth.
Sam’s parents hired him a junior set of rental clubs and he went ahead to shoot 167. He was doing incredibly well at the age of nine and he carded a 63 at the Pinehurst during the U.S Kids Junior Worlds where he lost by one.

Horsefield had an amazing amateur career before he turned professional in 2017. He recorded his first-ever 59 at his home course, Highlands Reserve Golf Course, at the age of 13. He was the youngest ever Champion at the Florida State Amateur in 2013 at the age of 16. This victory placed him at the top of the UK Swing mini Order of Merit and on the T-10 on the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex. He also appeared on the top 100 on the Official World Golf Rankings. This was his highest ever in global standings.
