Steve Scully is an American executive producer and political editor for the C-Span television network. He is set to moderate the second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden on October 15, 2020, in Miami. As of 2020, Steve Scully net worth is estimated to be $4 million.
Scully was born on September 17, 1960, in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was born to Hubert L. “Hoot” Scully and Elizabeth Jane North “Betty” Scully. He was the 14th of 16 children, including five sets of twins.
Regarding his education, Scully received an undergraduate degree in communication and political science from American University in 1982. During his degree, he served as a constituent intern in the office of then-senator Joe Biden as a part of college courses on Congress. In 1984, he graduated with a Master of Science degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Scully’s journalism career started in 1981 working as a weekend newscaster on WAMU. After his undergraduate degree, he worked as a reporter and anchor for WSEE-TV. He then returned back to WSEE after his completion of graduate studies.
In 1990, he joined C-Span as a political editor and White House producer. Since then, he has been working on coordinating campaign programming for C-Span and C-Span Radio. He also manages a team of field producers responsible for coverage of the White House, politics, and several other issues.
In addition to C-Span, he regularly appears on C-SPAN Radio’s Washington Today. Throughout his career, he has interviewed every president from Gerald Ford to Donald Trump. Scully served nine years on the Executive Board of the White House Correspondents’ Association and was elected by his peers to serve that role from 2006 to 2007.
Scully has received several awards and honors to his name. He was the 2009 recipient of the Fitzwater Center for Communications Award for his excellence in journalism and public service. He was also inducted into the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2019.
Scully will moderate the second presidential debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice-President Joe Biden. The debate will take place on October 15, 2020.
Regarding his personal life, Scully is married to Kathryn R. “Katie” Scully. They have four children together named Mary Cate, Daniel, Cristen, and Natalie Cathleen.
