Tony Finau Early Life and Family

Tony Finau was born on 14th September 1989 in Salt Lake City Utah. His father Kelepi Finau and his mother Ravena Finau had seven children including Tony. His father was an immigrant from Tonga. He is married to Alayna Finau and they have four children together.

Tony and his elder brother Gripper had an interest in Golf and started playing when they were still young. Their parents were very supportive despite the financial challenges they had at the time. Finau is a cousin to Jabari Parker, an NBA Player currently playing for Sacramental Kings.

He is now ranked ninth in the Official World Golf Ranking. Tony has also been a professional golfer for almost a decade, beginning in 2007.

Finau won his maiden title on the PGA tour at the Puerto Rico Open in March 2016. He also won in a sudden-death playoff over Steve Marino with a birdie on the third extra hole. This placed him in the top 25 in the FedEx Cup standings. He chose not to defend his Puerto Rico title in 2017 and instead tried his luck at the 2017 WGC-Dell technologies Matchplay. He came two players short of entering the field.

Finau completed the 2018 PGA Tour season ranked 6th in the FedEx cup earning $5.6 million in the 2017-2018 season with 11 top-ten finishes. He finished second at the Safeway Open and the northern trust. This earned him a lot of respect and praise from his counterparts and stakeholders as well.

Molonai Hola, a Salt City Lake businessman, filed a $16 million lawsuit against Tony Finau in September 2020. Tony Finau, his brother Gipper, his father Gary, his manager Chris Armstrong, and Wasserman Media Group were all named in the action.

For example, according to his claim, their first meeting was in 2006, and Hola initially assisted them financially.

According to the lawsuit, Hola supported the family with Finau’s golf-related expenses.

Hola had spent almost $600,000 on Finau’s golf bills, and their agreement required them to pay Hola 20% (20%) of Tony’s and Gipper’s earnings throughout their careers.

Later, he contacted Finau with the deal he was first expected to make with Wasserman Media Group. However, the Finau family eventually ceased returning phone calls.
