Early Life
Trixie Mattel whose real name is Brian Michael Firkus was born on August 23, 1989, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Firkus had an abusive stepfather who used to call him “trixie” when he acted feminine, which later inspired his drag name.
Firkus went to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he majored in Music Teatre. He also went to The Institute of Beauty and Wellness but withdraw later to participate in RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Career
Firkus first performed in drag in 2008, at LaCage NiteClub in Milwaukee. He then entered in season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race as a competitor but was eliminated in episode four. He later entered in episode eight by winning the “Conjoined Twins” challenge but was once again eliminated in episode 10.
Trixie then entered for the 3rd season of RuPaul’s “Drag Race: All-Stars”. He won against Kennedy Davenport in the final lipsync battle. She also competed in the 2018 television special RuPaul’s Drag Race Holi-slay Spectacular and won.
After she rose to fame by winning the RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars, Trixie along with Katya Zamolodchikova later went on to star in “The Trixie & Katya Show”. They also starred in a drag stage adaptation “Trixie and Katya’s High School Reunion”.
As a comedian, Mattel has toured around the world with her show called “Ages 3 and Up”. As a musician, she released the country-folk album “Two Birds” in 2017. A year later, she released her second album titled “One Stone”.
